Notes on Dallas Stars prospects who were in action Saturday night

Here are a few notes on Dallas Stars prospects who were in action Saturday night.

*RW Austin Smith (fifth round/2007) continues to light it up with Idaho of the ECHL. Smith extended his points streak to eight games with two goals as the Steelheads won 3-2 at Ontario Saturday. Smith has 13 points (9 goals, 4 assists) during the eight-game stretch. Smith also picked up his first pro fighting major in the game, dropping the gloves with Ontario’s Jason Beeman midway through the third. Smith, who earned first star honors in the game, appeared to have the Gordie Howe Hat Trick with a goal, assist and fight, but his one assist was changed to a goal after the game concluded.

*RW Matej Stransky (sixth round/2011) scored two goals and chipped in two assists as the Saskatoon Blades routed Regina, 9-0, in the Western Hockey League Saturday. Stransky, who was the game’s first star, has 9 goals in his last 10 games for the Blades.

*C Scott Winkler (third round/2008) had 2 assists as Colorado College tied Minnesota, 4-4, Saturday. It was the seventh multi-point game of the season for Winkler, who has 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 18 games.

*D John Klingberg (fifth round/2010) picked up his first points of the season in the Swedish Elite League Saturday. Klingberg, who missed his team’s first 28 games due to offseason hip surgery, registered two assists and a plus-four rating as Skelleftea defeated Farjestads, 5-4, Saturday.
