The Dallas Stars practiced in McKinney this morning. There were some new faces on the ice and a few guys missing.

Michael Ryder was sick and did not practice. Derek Roy was off the ice for a maintenance day. Trevor Daley, who suffered an upper body injury in Sunday’s game against Calgary, did not skate. There was no update on him. Nothing new on Kari Lehtonen, who is out with a groin injury. He is day-to-day, and could start some on-ice work with goaltending coach Mike Valley in the next couple days.

“I know he is still day-to-day and is at the other rink working out,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said about Lehtonen. “I saw Dales this morning, and he went back over for treatment. I am not sure where he is at, we might not have an update on him until tomorrow.”

Forward Matt Fraser, called up from the Texas Stars of the AHL Monday, practiced with the team today.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Fraser, who leads the Texas Stars with 24 goals. “Things are going well for our team, and I am excited to be here and looking for the opportunity.”

It’s unclear when Fraser might get into the lineup, but he’s been playing well in Cedar Park and Gulutzan said he deserves a look.

“Who has scored more goals in the American League over the past two years? I don’t know. The one guy that did is a $6 million player out of Edmonton,” Gulutzan said. “He certainly earned to get a try up here. Whether we get him in or not, we’ll make those decisions when they come. Certainly he is deserving of being here and he is a quality individual. We’re having success with young guys, and at some point he is going to get a chance.”
