Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow will miss tonight’s game at Phoenix with a groin injury he suffered in Thursday’s game against Los Angeles.
“He didn’t skate yesterday and he’s not much better today,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “He’s not going to go tonight. It’s our window here to get it better. Yesterday a day off, a day off for him today and a day off tomorrow, then we’ll see if he can skate on Monday.”
With Morrow out, Matt Fraser will slide into the lineup. Fraser, who was called up from the Texas Stars of the AHL on Friday, is expected to skate on a line with center Cody Eakin and right wing Reilly Smith.
“I just want him to play,” said Gulutzan. “I noticed in the first couple of games that he played he was nervous. I don’t want him to be, I just want him to play. It’s not life or death for him, I want him to come in and play his game, play hard and I fully expect he is going to do that. I think the second time around he is going to be a little more relaxed and play a little bit more of his game.”
The 22-year old Fraser, Texas’ top goal scorer, has played two games this season for Dallas, and scored his first NHL goal on February 25 at Nashville.
