The Dallas Stars honored members of the military and their families during Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, March 23 against the Colorado Avalanche at American Airlines Center. The Dallas Stars defeated the Avalanche 5-2. To honor the military in attendance, the players used camouflage-taped sticks in warmups. The sticks were available to fans through a silent auction with all proceeds benefitting the Dallas Stars Foundation. The Foundation played an active role in the evening and donated tickets to veterans and their families to attend the game.

For Military Appreciation Night, several local businesses joined forces and attended the game as groups to honor our service men and women including Bell Helicopter, Texas Army National Guard Dallas, Lockheed Martin Vought Heritage Association, Lockheed Martin Leadership Association, Robinson, NAS Joint Reserve Base, USO, The Boot Campaign, Defending the Blue Line and NAS Joint Reserve Base.

"Defending The Blue Line is honored to be a part of the Dallas Stars Military Appreciation Night,” President, Founder of Defending The Blue Line Shane Hudella said. “This gift will allow us to make a positive difference in the lives of many local military families. It's through the generosity of the fans, and great organizations like the Dallas Stars, that we are able to continue our mission of keeping hockey alive for the children of our nations heroes."

The Salute the Troops honoree was Bobby Henline, who’s Humvee was hit by a roadside bomb north of Bagdad on April 7, 2007. This American hero uses motivational speaking and his love of stand-up comedy to spread hope and joy to others in need.

Craig Ludwig, who played for the Stars from 1991-1999 and was member of the 1999 Stanley Cup Championship squad, was honored for the 20th Anniversary All-Time Team and performed the ceremonial puck drop. Current Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas was also inducted into the 20th Anniversary All-Time Team.

“Northrop Grumman is proud to support Military Appreciation Night along with the Dallas Stars. We recognize the brave men and women of all our military forces and hope our involvement in this special event demonstrates to all our thanks and gratitude for their service,” said Corporate Citizenship Representative of Northrop Grumman, Tom Reese.
