The Texas Stars went 2-1-0-0 over the past week as they continue to battle the Syracuse Crunch for the best record in the AHL. Through Monday’s games the Crunch have a one-point lead over the Stars, who are 37-17-5-6 (85 points) on the season. Texas is tops in both the Western Conference and the South Division.
Tuesday March 19, San Antonio at Texas: Stars 4, Rampage 3
The Stars rallied from a 3-1 deficit, scoring three unanswered goals in the third period, to defeat San Antonio, 4-3, at Cedar Park Center. Matt Fraser, Colton Sceviour and Justin Dowling tallied in the third period for the Stars, who won for the sixth time this season when trailing after two periods (6-16-2-0). Fraser scored in the first period as well. Richard Bachman, assigned to Texas from Dallas to get some playing time, stopped 23 of 26 shots.
Friday March 22, Rochester at Texas: Stars 2, Americans 1
Bachman stopped 29 of 30 shots and Scott Glennie and Luke Gazdic scored goals for the Stars, who ran their points streak to six games (4-0-1-1). Gazdic, in his first game back after missing a month with a hand injury, scored the game-winner midway through the second period. Glennie, who has missed considerable time due to injury this season, scored his first goal since November 25.
