The Dallas Stars will have the 10th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, determined Monday evening in the National Hockey League Draft Lottery. The Colorado Avalanche won the Drawing, giving them the number-one overall pick in this year's Draft.
The Stars had a 2.1% chance of winning Monday's drawing, with the opportunity to move up to the first overall pick.
The 2013 NHL Draft will be held Sunday, June 30, with all seven rounds being conducted on the same day for the first time since 2006. As previously announced, the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center will host the event.
This will be the second time in franchise history that the Stars will have the 10th overall pick, as well as the 21st time that they will select in the top-10 of the Draft. Since the club moved to Dallas in 1993, they have had a top-10 selection three times (Todd Harvey in 1993; Ric Jackman in 1996; Scott Glennie in 2009).
Recent first-round selections include, forward Radek Faksa with the 13th overall pick in 2012, defenseman Jamie Oleksiak with the 14th overall pick in 2011, and goaltender Jack Campbell with the 11th overall pick in 2010.
The Stars will have 10 draft picks this year. All 10 are listed below:
1st (DAL) - 10th overall
2nd (BOS)* + 2nd (VAN) + 2nd (DAL)
5th (DAL) + 5th (PIT)
* Conditional pick: Dallas receives Boston's first-round selection in 2013 if the Bruins advance to the Eastern Conference Finals in this year's playoffs
