About the Stars

The Stars (3-3-0) snapped San Jose’s six game winning streak, topping the Sharks 4-3 in a shootout at American Airlines Center Thursday night. The Stars overcame 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 deficits in the game.

“We battled through adversity there but tonight we showed a lot,” said Stars forward Alex Chiasson. “We gave up a goal right away but we kept with our game plan. I think that made a huge difference, and our goalie played great. We battled through the whole game and good results happened.”

The Stars’ second line had a big game. Cody Eakin had one goal and one assist in regulation, Ray Whitney had a pair of assists and Chiasson had an assist and scored the lone goal of the shootout.

Goaltender Dan Ellis, who stopped 32 of 35 shots in the game and all three shots he faced in the shootout, is the likely starter Saturday night.

The Stars have a two game road trip this weekend, playing back-to-back games at Los Angeles (Saturday) and at Anaheim (Sunday).

Injuries: G Kari Lehtonen (lower body) is out. D Aaron Rome (hip) is on a conditioning assignment.

About the Kings

The Kings (5-3-0) are coming off a 2-1 shootout win in Nashville Thursday night. Jonathan Quick stopped 34 of 35 shots in regulation and overtime and all three shots in the shootout, and Anze Kopitar scored the only goal of the shootout. The Kings went 3-1-0 on their just concluded road trip.

“What's more important is we played six of our first eight on the road, which is the most in the conference," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. "So, we still have our heads above water after six road games. That's what's more important."

Saturday’s game against the Stars begins a four game homestand for the Kings, who play eight of their next nine games at Staples Center.

Injuries: None.
