Here are some notes on Dallas Stars prospects playing in juniors, Europe and college.

*Center Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) scored three goals in two games over the weekend, giving him 13 goals in 12 games this season for Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League. Smith is tied for the OHL lead in goals.

*Center Radek Faksa (first round/2012) picked up three points (one goal, two assists) in two games over the past week. Faksa has nine points (seven goals, two assists) in eight games this season.

*Right wing Cody Payne (trade acquisition/2013) has cooled off from his hot start with Saginaw of the OHL. After scoring six goals in his first four games of the season, Payne has picked up one assist over his last eight games.

*LW Cole Ully (fifth round/2013) registered four points (one goal, three assists) in four games for Kamloops of the Western Hockey League over the past week. Ully has eleven points (five goals, six assists) in eleven games this season.

*Right wing Branden Troock registered one goal and one assist in three games for Seattle of the WHL over the last week. Troock has ten points (four goals, six assists) in twelve games this season.

*Center Mike Winther (second round/2012) returned to action for Prince Albert of the WHL after missing two-and-a-half weeks with a lower body injury. He had one assist in his first two games back.

*Defenseman Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) registered three assists and a plus-four rating in two games for Charlottetown of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Vance has ten points (three goals, seven assists) in eleven games this season.

*Goaltender Philippe Desrosiers (second round/2013) is winless in his last five appearances for Rimouski of the QMJHL. He has a 0-3-2 record, 3.39 goals against average and .887 save percentage during that stretch.

*Defenseman John Klingberg (fifth round/2010) had one goal and one assist in two games this past week for Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League. Klingberg has eight points (four goals, four assists) in 13 games and ranks ninth in scoring among SHL defensemen.

*Defenseman Ludwig Bystrom (second round/2012) had one assist and a plus-two rating in two games for Farjestad of the Swedish Hockey League. Bystrom has three assists in 14 games. His plus-6 rating is tops on his team and ranks seventh among all SHL defensemen.

*Defenseman Niklas Hansson (third round/2013) has been playing with Rogle’s junior club the past couple weeks and has registered four points (two goals, two assists) and a plus-eight rating in six games.

*Goaltender Henri Kiviaho (fifth round/2012) got his first start of the season with KalPa of the Finnish Elite League, stopping 25 of 29 shots in a 4-2 loss to Ilves on Tuesday.

*Defenseman Aleksi Makela (seventh round/2013) has returned to action after missing the first part of the season due to injury. He has one goal and one assist in six games for Ilves in Finnish junior hockey.

*Forward Alex Guptill (third round/2010) scored one goal in Michigan’s two games against New Hampshire this weekend. Guptill has three points (one goal, two assists) in three games this season.
