“Mark made some great strides with his game last season, both here in Dallas as well as with the Manitoba Moose,” said Nieuwendyk. “He is a big, physical presence with a great deal of potential, and he’ll be counted upon to solidify our blue line for the next three seasons.”
Fistric, 23, skated in 36 games with Dallas last season, recording four assists and 42 penalty minutes. In 73 career NHL games, all with the Stars, he has posted six assists and 66 penalty minutes. He also skated in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games with Dallas in 2008.

The 6-2, 232-pound defenseman appeared in 35 games with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League in 2008-09, earning eight assists with 26 PIM. He then posted seven points (two goals, five assists) in 22 games, as he helped lead Manitoba to the AHL’s Western Conference crown and the Calder Cup Finals.
