Dallas Stars' General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has placed center Steve Ott on injured reserve, retro-active to Dec. 7. The club has also recalled goaltender Jason Bacashihua under emergency conditions from the Utah Grizzlies, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Bacashihua was recalled because goaltender Ron Tugnutt is day-to-day with a sprained knee suffered in a recent practice.
Ott, 21, is day-to-day with a back strain suffered on Dec. 7 at Anaheim. The 6-0, 185-pound center has appeared in 28 games with the Stars this season, recording one goal and four assists for five points with 59 penalty minutes. Earlier this season Ott collected his first career NHL multi-point on Nov. 24 vs. Phoenix (1-1-2). In 54 career NHL contests, he has tallied four goals and eight assists for 12 points with 90 penalty minutes.
Bacashihua, 21, has appeared in 15 games with Utah this season, registering a 3-10-2 mark with a 2.78 goals-against-average and a .898 save percentage. Dallas' first round selection (26th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Bacashihua did appear in four 2003 preseason games with the Stars. In those four contests, he posted a 0-1-1 record with a 1.54 goals-against-average and a .925 save percentage.
