February 25, 2004

Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has assigned defenseman John Erskine to the Utah Grizzlies, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), for a conditioning assignment.

Erskine, 23, has appeared in 32 games with the Stars this season, registering one assist on Dec. 6 at San Jose. He missed four games (Dec. 31-Jan. 5) with a slight ankle sprain and four games (Jan. 15-20) with a calf laceration suffered while on a conditioning assignment with the Grizzlies. In two games with Utah this season, he went scoreless with four penalty minutes. The 6-4, 215-pound defenseman has appeared in 81 games with the Stars over his career, posting two goals and two assists for four points with 175 penalty minutes.

The Stars (30-22-10-0) will host the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night in a 7:30 p.m. faceoff at American Airlines Center (kdfi27). The team will close the week out by playing host to the Minnesota Wild on Friday night (7:30 p.m. CST, kdfi27) and the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday (2 p.m. CST, kdfi27).
