Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has activated left wing Shayne Corson to the playing roster and placed right wing Scott Young on the injured reserve list retroactive to Feb. 25.
Corson, 37, is available for selection at tomorrow's 2 p.m. faceoff with Edmonton Oilers at American Airlines Center. A veteran of 17 NHL seasons, including nine and a half with the Montreal Canadiens, Corson has appeared in 1,139 games (268-415-683, 2,328 PIM). He has also played in 135 career playoff games, scoring 38-48-86 points. Corson agreed to terms with the Stars on Feb. 18 and has been practicing with the team since.
Young, 36, will miss at least the next two games (Feb. 29 vs. EDM and Mar. 3 vs. CBJ) with back spasms suffered on Feb. 25 vs. Los Angeles. The 6-1, 200-pound right wing has appeared in 53 games with Dallas this season, recording eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. He appeared in 1,100th career NHL game on Feb. 20 vs. Colorado, becoming the 10th U.S. born player to appear in 1,100 NHL games.
