Stars recall Erskine from conditioning assignment

March 1, 2004

Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled defenseman John Erskine from his conditioning assignment with the Utah Grizzlies, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Erskine, 23, appeared in three games with Utah from Feb. 25-28, going scoreless with 14 penalty minutes. In five total games with Utah this season, Erksine has posted 18 penalty minutes. In 32 games with the Stars this season, he has registered one assist on Dec. 6 at San Jose.

The Kingston, Ontario native missed four games (Dec. 31-Jan. 5) with a slight ankle sprain and four games (Jan. 15-20) with a calf laceration suffered while on his first conditioning assignment with the Grizzlies. The 6-4, 215-pound defenseman has appeared in 81 games with the Stars over his career, posting two goals and two assists for four points with 175 penalty minutes.

The Stars (32-22-11-0) will host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night a 7:30 p.m. faceoff at American Airlines Center (FSN). The team will close out their franchise-long eight-game homestand by playing host to the Calgary Flames on Friday night (7:30 p.m. CST, FSN) and the San Jose Sharks on Sunday (3 p.m. CST, ESPN). is the official Web site of DSE Hockey Club, L.P.  The Stars name and logos are registered trademarks of the NHL and the Stars.
