March 9, 2004

Dallas Stars General Manger Doug Armstrong announced today that defenseman John Erskine will undergo surgery this Thursday to repair a sports hernia and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. John Preskitt at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. Erskine will begin rehabilitation in 3-4 weeks and is expected to make a full recovery.

Erskine, 23, has appeared in 32 games for the Stars this season, scoring 0-1-1 point with 84 penalty minutes. He also played in five games with the Utah Grizzlies (AHL) on a conditioning assignment, going scoreless with 18 penalty minutes.
