Stars Sign Broadcaster Daryl Reaugh to Two-Year Extension

June 10, 2004

FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars President Jim Lites announced today that the National Hockey League club has signed broadcaster Daryl Reaugh to a two-year contract extension, placing the longtime Stars analyst under contract through the 2007-08 season.

"The Dallas Stars are extremely delighted to sign Daryl Reaugh to this extension," said Lites. "Razor has been a wonderful ambassador for our organization and the game of hockey in the Metroplex."

Reaugh, 39, is entering his ninth season as color analyst on the Stars Hockey Network. A veteran of television and radio broadcasts since 1990, Reaugh came to Dallas from the Hartford Whalers where he was also a color analyst. He has also done work for ABC, ESPN and FOX.

A former NHL goaltender, Reaugh's career included stints with both the Edmonton Oilers and the Hartford Whalers. His promising career was cut short in 1991 due to injury. Prior to turning pro, he was an all-star netminder for the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League.

The Dallas Stars simulcast their games on television and radio. Stars regular season and playoff games are broadcasted locally on television on Fox Sports Net (returning for its 12th season in 2004-05) and kdfi 27 (returning for its fifth season). Every Stars game has been broadcast on television in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market since the 1994-95 season. News/Talk 820 WBAP enters its 11th season as the flagship radio station for Stars broadcasts, broadcasting all 82 regular season contests and all playoff games.

The Stars signed play-by-play man Ralph Strangis to a five-year contract last summer that, like Reaugh, has him under contract through the 2007-08 season.

"Our fans are accustomed to Ralph and Razor as the voices of the Dallas Stars," added Lites. "We have two of the best broadcasters in the business and we are pleased that they will be a part of us for years to come."
