DALLAS STARS EXTEND THE CONTRACT OF HEAD COACH DAVE TIPPETT
Associate Coach Rick Wilson and Assistant Coaches Mark Lamb & Andy Moog Also Retained

FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the National Hockey League club has signed Head Coach Dave Tippett to a two-year contract extension through the 2006-07 season. In addition, Armstrong also announced that Associate Coach Rick Wilson, Assistant Coach Mark Lamb, and Assistant/Goaltending Coach Andy Moog have all signed one-year extensions for the 2005-06 season. Each of the current contracts of the Stars' coaching staff were due to expire on June 30, 2005.

Tippett, 43, enters his fourth season with the hockey club with an overall record of 86-47-27 over his tenure as head coach of the Dallas Stars -- tied for the third-best record in the NHL from 2002-2004. He was named the 19th head coach in Stars franchise history on May 21, 2002. The Stars have earned a 53-14-14 mark at home for a .744 winning percentage with Tippett behind the bench -- the fifth-best home record all-time among NHL coaches with a minimum of 50 home wins, and the second-best home mark in the NHL from 2002-2004.

"We're extremely excited to have Dave Tippett back as head coach of the Dallas Stars," Armstrong said. "Dave has done an excellent job as head coach of this hockey team and we expect that to continue.

"We're equally pleased to have our entire coaching staff back along with Dave. This group of coaches work well together and we are looking forward to getting back to playing hockey with them behind our bench."

Tippett went 46-21-15 in his first season as Dallas' head coach, by far the best start for a Stars coach in his first 82 games. The team's 111 points were the fourth-highest in NHL history for a first-year head coach. Tippett has six years experience as a coach in the NHL as well as 11 years as a player for four different teams.

Wilson, 55, enters his fourth season as associate coach and his 14th with the Stars organization, with his coaching emphasis on the club's defensemen. During his tenure in Dallas, he has been part of six division championships, two Western Conference crowns, two Presidents' Trophies and the 1999 Stanley Cup. Wilson has over 18 years experience as a coach in the NHL.

Lamb, 40, begins his fourth season as an assistant coach for Dallas, with his coaching emphasis on the Stars' forwards and offense. He has also served as an assistant coach for Edmonton and played in 403 career NHL games with six different teams.

Moog, 44, begins his fourth season as the Stars' assistant/goaltending coach. He works closely with Dallas management in the areas of goaltender coaching and advising, pro scouting and consulting in goaltender personnel decisions. A three-time Stanley Cup winner with Edmonton, Moog appeared in 175 games for the Stars from 1993-1997.
