Oilers to Provide Players to Dallas Stars AHL Affiliate as Part of One-Year Deal
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Dallas Stars Assistant General Manager Francois Giguere announced today that the Iowa Stars have signed a one-year player loan agreement with the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton is expected to place up to seven players with Iowa in 2005-06.
"The Iowa Stars are very pleased about this player loan agreement with the Edmonton Oilers," said Giguere. "Some of Edmonton's prospects will get the opportunity to play and develop with Iowa while providing some depth for the AHL club."
The Iowa Stars' first-ever training camp in preparation for the 2005-06 season will begin on September 24 in Des Moines.
About the Iowa Stars and the Affiliation with Dallas
The Iowa Stars will begin a five-year affiliation agreement with the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars this fall as Iowa plays their inaugural season in the AHL. As per the affiliation agreement, the Dallas Stars will provide up to 22 players to the Iowa Stars. Dallas is responsible for all hockey operation decisions.

Entering its 70th season of operation this fall, over 80 percent of all players to compete in the NHL in 2003-04 were AHL graduates, and more than 400 players took the ice in both leagues.
