Stars, Morrow Sign 2-yr Deal

DALLAS STARS RE-SIGN BRENDEN MORROW TO TWO-YEAR CONTRACT
Left Wing Secured Through 2006-2007 Season

FRISCO, Tex. - Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has re-signed left wing Brenden Morrow to a two-year contract. Per club policy, no financial terms were disclosed.

"We're pleased to have reached an agreement with Brenden for the next two seasons," said Armstrong. "He's a valuable part of this club's future and we expect he will continue to anchor our young core of players. We're very excited to have him in the fold."

Morrow, 26, appeared in 81 games for Dallas during the 2003-04 season, posting 25 goals and 24 assists for 49 points and 123 penalty minutes. His 25 goals and 49 points were both career bests, as were his nine power play goals. Among team leaders in 2003-04, he ranked first in power play goals, second in goals and fourth in points. He also recorded his first career hat trick (3-0-3) on Jan. 31, 2004 at Phoenix.

In five NHL seasons, all with the Stars, the native of Carlyle, Sask., has appeared in 370 games and has notched 204 points (97 goals and 107 assists) and 575 penalty minutes. The 5-11, 210-lb. left wing has played in 185 career NHL home games and 185 career NHL road contests, recording 102 points both at home (45-57-102) and on the road (52-50-102).

Morrow has also appeared in 48 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Stars, recording five goals and 13 assists for 18 points with 54 penalty minutes. In his rookie season of 1999-2000, Morrow played in 21 playoff games as the Stars won the Western Conference championship and reached the Stanley Cup Finals. He posted six points (two goals and four assists) and 22 penalty minutes during that playoff run.

Dallas' first round pick (No. 25 overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Morrow played briefly for the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League during the 2004-05 campaign, tallying 22 points (eight goals and 14 assists) and 31 penalty minutes in 19 games.

Morrow has represented Team Canada at four World Championships (2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005), the 2004 World Cup and the 1999 World Junior Championships. Morrow has participated in Team Canada's orientation camps for their 2002 and 2006 Olympics teams.
