Stars National Television Dates Announced

The National Hockey League announced its national television schedule on Wednesday, and the Dallas Stars will be featured on the NHL’s national television partners, NBC and VERSUS, throughout the season.

Dallas’ opening night contest at Colorado on October 3 will be featured by VERSUS as the second game of a national doubleheader. The Stars will appear on VERSUS a total of four times during the 2007-08 season, including October 29 vs. San Jose, December 3 at Columbus and February 11 vs. Phoenix.

In total, VERSUS will present 57 regular-season games, All-Star weekend (January 25-27 in Atlanta), extensive playoff action and the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final. The network’s studio show, “Hockey Central,” features new host Bill Patrick and returning analysts Keith Jones and Brian Engblom. Many Dallas-Fort Worth area cable providers offer VERSUS, but viewers may also contact their local cable provider for more information about the network.

The NBC NHL “Game of the Week” drops the puck on Sunday, January 20 with an exciting new twist to ensure fans are provided with the most exciting match-up available: the NHL will offer flexible scheduling for NBC's nine regular-season dates. NBC will have nearly two weeks in advance of a particular Sunday to select which games will air, and two Dallas games are among those up for consideration.

Dallas’ 12:30 p.m. contest on January 20 against the defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks is a candidate be chosen for NBC, as well as the club’s 2:30 p.m. home game on February 17 against the Detroit Red Wings. NBC will again broadcast the postseason, including Games 3-7 of the Stanley Cup Final in prime time.

The “NHL on HDNet” this season will continue offering fans a flexible schedule of games airing on Thursday and Saturday nights. HDNet will update its broadcast schedule bi-monthly so that it will be able to feature the hottest players, teams and match-ups. All “NHL on HDNet” broadcasts are original HDNet productions broadcast in 1080i HD and 16x9 widescreen format.

The Dallas Stars will twice be featured on CBC’s prestigious “Hockey Night in Canada” – February 2 at Calgary and March 15 vs. Vancouver. Dallas will also appear twice on Canada’s TSN, with both games coming against the Calgary Flames – December 21 in Calgary’s Pengrowth Saddledome and February 20 at American Airlines Center.

The Dallas Stars are currently working with their local television partners, Fox Sports Southwest and My-27, on the local television schedule.
