)“I love coming to the Stars Face-Off Luncheon,” said Stars fan Michelle Coleman. “It’s still warm outside but you can tell it’s hockey season right now! The team looks good and I cannot wait to see the team in some action on the ice next week.”
The team handed out awards from the 2006-07 season at the luncheon, the result of voting by the local Dallas hockey media. Goalie Mike Smith was named “Rookie of the Year” while Niklas Hagman walked away with the “Most Improved Player” award. Mike Modano and Marty Turco each received “Three Stars of the Game” awards, the result of being named as one of the game’s three stars the most times in 2006-07. . Turco also received the team’s “Community” award for his generosity in giving back to the community. Philippe Boucher won two awards – one for the “Masterton Award,” for perseverance and dedication to hockey, and also the team’s “Most Valuable Player” award.
The luncheon is the perfect way to kick off the new season, as Dallas begins regular season play this Wednesday when the team travels to Colorado to take on the Avalanche. The home opener for the Stars is this Friday, Oct. 5 vs. Boston. Good tickets still remain. Click here to get yours now!
