Modano recently became the all-time leading American scorer in NHL history, and the Stars are honoring America’s Greatest Hockey Player that evening.
The Stars reached out to Arrigo and have worked with him to come up with a Mike Modano mural to honor his latest American records in hockey, as well as his fabulous career. Arrigo will be working on this mural beginning on Friday night at the Stars home game vs. Colorado. He will be set up on the northwest rotunda on the main concourse (near section 109) for fans to see him work and be able to interact with the very friendly and personable artist. On Saturday and Sunday, Arrigo will be set up at Galleria Dallas for most of the shopping day, located on level one just south of the ice skating rink. Shoppers and fans will again be able to watch Arrigo at work and chat with him about the process. On Monday, Arrigo will again be featured at the Stars home game vs. the LA Kings. The completed mural will be officially unveiled next Wednesday on Mike Modano Tribute Night at American Airlines Center.
Arrigo’s popularity began to take off after painting a mural of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky at the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999. Since then, he has been commissioned to complete works all around the world. His client list includes the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, and NASCAR, just to name a few. Arrigo has completed everything from event illustrations and limited edition prints to full scale murals and apparel designs.
But Arrigo is best known for what he calls the “Live Mural Experience,” and the Stars have commissioned him to do what he does best, starting this coming weekend in Dallas. The Live Mural Experience includes the complete production and painting of a large mural in public, usually over a series of days.
Arrigo was commissioned to come to Dallas last January as part of the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, completing a Live Mural Experience honoring the 1999 Stanley Cup Champion Dallas Stars that now hangs prominently in the main public lobby of the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco.
