October 6, 2003
Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Trevor Daley to the Utah Grizzlies, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Daley, 19, appeared in six games with the Stars during the 2003 preseason, posting three points (1-2-3). The 5-9, 197-pound defenseman tied for the team defensemen lead in goals, assists and points during the preseason. He collected a goal on Sept. 23 vs. St. Louis and registered two assists on Oct. 4 vs. Chicago.
The Stars' second round selection (43rd overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Daley has appeared the past four seasons with Sault Ste. Marie of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Last season, Daley appeared in 57 games with the Greyhounds, finishing fourth on the team in points (53), tied for fourth in goals (20) and fifth in assists (33).
The roster is now down to 24 players. The team must get to the roster limit of 23 by opening night (Oct. 8 vs. Anaheim).
