Go Stars from Iraq...

Subject: Go Stars from Iraq...

First of all I am hoping that this little email goes to the right place.  I have been a Stars fan for years and I was even living in Dallas when they won the cup in 1999 =D.  I was able to attend 3 playoff games that year seeing Edmonton, St. Louis (the OT game where Joe Nieuwendyk scored the winner) and Colorado.  Sadly, I wasn't able to attend any of the Stanley Cup Finals games.

I am currently in Baghdad, Iraq doing a 15 month long deployment, but that hasn't slowed me down one bit to follow any of the Stars games provided that we have an active internet connection.  I want to wish the Stars all the success against those nasty Sharks and eventually the Red Wings and see them in the finals.  My mid tour R&R is coming up and it will be in time for the finals!!!  I have already promised myself that if the Stars are in the finals, I will get on a plane from my home state (Washington) and fly down there and HOPEFULLY be able to get tickets into a game or two.  Even being over here hasn't stopped me from wearing my Stars gear.  Besides all the uniforms we had to bring, it was easy for me to find room for most of my Dallas Stars clothes and hats.  2 jerseys, 4 t-shirts and 3 hats.

Thank you for taking the tme to read this little emal.  I wish everyone at the Stars all the success and I hope to see you here later on this month, early June.  Included is a picture that I had taken from COP War Eagle in front of a sign we're making for the Iraqi Security Forces.

Sincerly,

SPC Charlie De Nune

It was frustrating this morning before we were rolling out on our patrol, the game was in the 2nd OT and I had a good enough connection to listen to the game.  Unfortunatly, we had to roll out on our patrol and it was the longest 6 hours I have probably experienced over here, but thankfully we came back in and I received good news that they won.  On to Detroit Thursday night...it's going to be a great series!!  Thank you for the response and GO STARS!!!!!!!!!
