If you have attended a Stars game recently, you have undoubtedly noticed something new greeting fans on the AT&T Plaza as you walked up to the arena – a giant inflatable hockey player wearing the Dallas Stars black. This big guy, nicknamed “The Enforcer,” is part of the Dallas Stars Street Squad, a group that was created to give fans an opportunity to get more involved with the organization off the ice.

“The Street Squad set up has provided an interactive opportunity for the fans prior to the game,” said Carla Rosenberg, director of community marketing for the Stars. “It serves as a compelling backdrop and impactful presence in the Plaza area as fans enter the arena. The atmosphere is heightened and fans enjoy the pre-game fan-friendly entertainment.”
Fans can also try out the latest hockey video games on the Sony Playstation 3’s that are on display.
“Everybody loves the video games,” said Ryan Roberts, a member of the Street Squad. “The picture looks so real, it’s almost like watching a real game. Sometimes, parents have to drag their kids away from the NHL video games so they can go inside the arena and watch the actual Stars game. Other times, the kids are the ones trying to pry the parents away from the video games.”
Stars games aren’t the only place you’ll find the Street Squad, however. The Street Squad keeps a busy schedule of birthday parties, camps, school carnivals, watching parties, and other special events while the Stars are on the road.
“The Street Squad provides a high energy interactive on-site presence for the Dallas Stars, providing exposure outside of arena setting, especially at media partner events. This also serves as introduction to non-fans to experience hockey and the Dallas Stars in a non-traditional setting,” Rosenberg said.
The Street Squad also plays a valuable role in corporate partnerships, participating in various corporate events around the area. The interactive games and the large spectacle that the Street Squad creates are perfect for large-scale events, and it gives the Stars a chance to expose new groups of people to NHL hockey.
If you are driving around the Metroplex and happen to see the Street Squad, make sure you stop by and register to win some great prizes, as well as get all the information on the latest ticket promotions. You can also come get a look at all the different items that are on display at games, or you can just hang out and talk hockey with any of the friendly members of the Street Squad.
