The Dallas Stars are going to The Ticket.

The Stars and Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket announced today that they have signed a five-year agreement to make The Ticket the exclusive radio broadcasting home of the hockey club through the 2013-14 NHL season.

The agreement begins next season, with the Ticket broadcasting all 82 regular season games of the Dallas Stars each year, as well as all playoff games. The games will be broadcast on both the station’s primary AM frequency of 1310 and its main FM frequency of 104.1 (as well as 1700 AM and 99.5-2 HD). The Ticket will also broadcast a pre-game show (for most games) and a post-game show (for all games) as part of the agreement.

“This is a logical next step to the strong promotional partnership we've enjoyed with the Stars over the years,” said The Ticket Vice President and Market Manager Dan Bennett. “We felt the time was right to take it to the next level and become the play-by-play voice of the team.”

The Stars are currently in the final year of a contract with News/Talk 820 WBAP, which has been the hockey club’s radio home for the last 15 years.

“I want to thank WBAP for 15 years as a great radio partner,” said Stars President Jeff Cogen. “As WBAP has evolved into an all-news format, the Stars have also evolved. We both decided it was time for a change. Our first choice for a new radio home was The Ticket. The Stars and The Ticket have practically grown up together, as both of us are celebrating our 15-year anniversary in the Metroplex. The Ticket was the first all-sports radio station in the area and they’re the best. We’re proud to align our brand with theirs.”

The Ticket and the Stars have built a solid relationship ever since the two came to North Texas. The two entities are expected to work even closer to build more programming around The Ticket’s strong lineup of shows, events and promotions.

“I think it’s great,” Stars captain Brenden Morrow said about the new partnership. “I’ve had a great time with the show I do with Bob and Dan (BaD Radio) and I know that all of the guys enjoy doing interviews and different events with The Ticket. It really is a perfect fit for our team.”

Long-time Stars broadcasters Ralph Strangis and Daryl Reaugh will continue to call the games. Both recently signed extensions that have them under contract through the 2013-14 season. Strangis is currently in his 19th season with the Stars, including 13 as the play-by-play voice. Reaugh is in his 13th season as the color analyst for the club.

Both the Dallas Stars and The Ticket are celebrating their 15th anniversary in North Texas. As part of this celebration and in honor of this new radio agreement, fans are being offered $15 seats in the upper level to all 10 home games during the month of February.
