DALLAS STARS RECALL GOALTENDER DAN ELLIS FROM IOWA
UNDER EMERGENCY CONDITIONS
Marty Turco Out with Flu

FRISCO, Tex. - Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Dan Ellis from the Iowa Stars, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), under emergency conditions. Marty Turco did not travel with the team today to St. Louis with the flu. The Stars play the Blues tonight at 7 p.m. (OLN, WBAP 820 AM).

Ellis, 25, has appeared in 15 games with the Iowa Stars this season, posting a 9-5 record with a 2.50 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage. Among AHL goaltending leaders, he ranks fifth in save percentage, tied for ninth in goals-against-average and tied for 11th in wins.

The 6-0, 186-pound goaltender has made 30 or more saves in seven of his 15 games played this season, including in five of his last six appearances. He is currently on a five-game winning streak from Dec. 10 - 23, registering a 1.57 goals-against average and a .954 save percentage.

The Orangeville, Ontario native has appeared in one NHL game with the Stars, stopping 25 of 28 shots in a 4-3 victory at Los Angeles on Feb. 8, 2004. A second round draft selection (60th overall) by Dallas in 2000, Ellis was a member of the Kelly Cup championship Idaho Steelheads squad in the ECHL. He was named 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP after going 13-3 in the post-season with a 1.86 goals-against-average.

Ellis will wear #30 for the Stars.

The Stars will return home tonight after their game in St. Louis and will host the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow at American Airlines Center (7:30 p.m., FSN, WBAP 820 AM).
