JUSSI JOKINEN ADDED TO FINNISH OLYMPIC HOCKEY TEAM
Seven Dallas Stars, Including Four Finns, To Represent Their Countries in Turin

FRISCO, Tex. - The Finnish Ice Hockey Association announced today that left wing Jussi Jokinen has been added to Team Finland for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, replacing Chicago's Tuomo Ruutu, who is out indefinitely after having ankle surgery. Jokinen, who will be making his first Olympic appearance, joins Stars teammates Jere Lehtinen, Niko Kapanen and Antti Miettinen on Team Finland.

The Stars have a total of seven Olympians who will represent their countries in Turin, which is tied for the sixth-most among all NHL teams. Mike Modano and Bill Guerin will each make their third Olympic appearance for Team USA, while Marty Turco will represent Canada for the first time. Lehtinen will skate for Finland in his fourth Olympics, while Kapanen and Miettinen will each be making their first appearance in the Winter Games.

"It is truly a dream come true to be named to Team Finland for the Winter Olympics," said Jokinen. "It's a great honor to represent my country and having three of my Dallas teammates there with me will be very special."

Through the first 42 games of his NHL career, Jokinen has notched 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points with 12 penalty minutes. The native of Kalajoki, Finland, has also added five power play goals and one game-winner, while averaging 13:05 minutes of ice time, most of which has come on the Stars' top line with center Mike Modano and right wing Jere Lehtinen.

Jokinen, Dallas' sixth round pick (No. 192 overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, has also gone a perfect four-for-four on shootout attempts this season.

The Stars have a 29-12-2 record and sit atop the NHL's Pacific Division with 60 points. The club will next take the ice against the Boston Bruins at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. CT (NBC and 820 WBAP).
