DALLAS STARS RECALL LEFT WING MATHIAS TJARNQVIST FROM IOWA

FRISCO, Tex. - Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist from the Iowa Stars, Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Tjarnqvist, 26, has appeared in 18 games with Iowa this season, posting 12 goals and six assists for 18 points. He posted a hat trick (3-0-3) on Jan. 18 at Grand Rapids. In 17 games for Dallas this season, Tjarnqvist has tallied one goal and one assist for two points with a +3 rating.

The 6-2, 196-lb. left wing missed the Stars' first nine games of the 2005-06 season with an ankle sprain. Over 35 career NHL contests, Tjarnqvist has tallied two goals and two assists for four points with 10 penalty minutes.

Tjarnqvist, Dallas' third round selection (No. 96 overall) in the 2000 Entry Draft, spent the 2004-05 season in his native Sweden, posting eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 46 games for HV 71 Jonkoping.
