Jackson and Carbonneau each named Assistant GM

October 15, 2003

Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that Les Jackson and Guy Carbonneau have each been given the title of assistant general manager. While the titles for Jackson and Carbonneau are now different, their duties with the hockey club will not change. Jackson's former title was director of hockey operations while Carbonneau's was special assistant to the general manager. Francois Giguere also has the title of assistant general manager in the Stars Hockey Department.

"Francois, Les, Guy and myself are always meeting on different issues to make important decisions for the organization and plan for the future," said Armstrong. "All three of them have equal say in what we do and how we operate and it just makes sense to give all three of them the title of assistant general manager."

Jackson's primary responsibilities lie in supervising the evaluation and development of the club's minor league prospects, as well as managing the Stars' amateur and professional scouting program. The 48 year-old Alberta native is in his 17th season with the Stars organization.

Carbonneau, 43, is in his second season with the Stars Hockey Operations Department. His primary focus is aiding the department in amateur and professional scouting, while advising the organization on team and personnel issues. He also works closely with the Utah Grizzlies hockey staff, helping in the development of Dallas' top prospects.

Giguere, 40, concentrates mainly in the areas of contract negotiations and tracking the budget for the Hockey Operations Department. He is the Stars' primary contact with the Utah Grizzlies -- Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League. Giguere is in his second season with the Stars.

Jackson and Carbonneau's new titles are effective immediately.
