Philippe Boucher and Willie Mitchell Out With Injuries
FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Dan Jancevski (jan-SEV-ski) under emergency conditions from the Iowa Stars, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). The Stars will be without defensemen Philippe Boucher (lower body injury) and Willie Mitchell (upper body injury) for tonight's game with Columbus. Both players are day-to-day with the injuries.
Jancevski, 24, made his NHL debut with the Stars on Feb. 4 at St. Louis, going scoreless in 5:58 minutes. He has appeared in 77 games for the Iowa Stars this season, posting nine goals and 29 assists for 38 points, to go along with a +7 rating and 91 penalty minutes. Six of Jancevski's goals this season have come on the power play, as the Windsor, Ont., native is serving as Iowa's captain in its inaugural season of play.
The 6-3, 220-pound defenseman was Dallas second round selection (No. 66 overall) in the 1999 Entry Draft. After a successful junior career with London and Sudbury of the Ontario Hockey League, Jancevski spent three seasons with the Utah Grizzlies (2001-04) and one with the Hamilton Bulldogs (2004-05). In 358 career games at the AHL level, Jancevski has recorded 16 goals and 73 assists for 89 points with 712 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 11 AHL playoff games, notching one assist and 18 PIM.
The Dallas Stars will finish up their regular season schedule tonight in Columbus at 6 p.m. (FSN, WBAP 820 AM). They will begin their first round playoff series with the Colorado Avalanche on either Friday or Saturday at the American Airlines Center.
