Dallas Stars Buy Out Final Year Of Bill Guerin's Contract

FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has bought out the final year of right wing Bill Guerin's contract, making him an unrestricted free agent.
"While this was a difficult decision to make, I feel that it was the best decision for both the Dallas Stars and Bill Guerin," said Armstrong. "We appreciate all Bill has done for the Stars organization and we wish him well in the future."
Guerin, 35, was signed as a free agent by Dallas on July 3, 2002, and skated in 216 games for the Stars, posting 159 points (72 goals and 87 assists) and 337 penalty minutes. He appeared in 14 playoff games for the Stars, recording three goals and two assists for five points with eight penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-2, 220 lb. right wing has appeared in 949 career NHL games, registering 328 goals and 335 assists for 663 points with 1,373 PIM. In 96 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, Guerin has scored 48 points (28 goals and 20 assists) with 133 penalty minutes.
