DALLAS STARS ANNOUNCE 2006-07 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE
Stars Open Season in Colorado on Oct. 4; Home Opener Against New Jersey on Oct. 7

FRISCO, Tex. -- The Dallas Stars will open the 2006-2007 National Hockey League regular season schedule on the road against Western Conference rival Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, October 4 (9 p.m.). The Stars will host the New Jersey Devils in the team's home opener on Saturday, October 7 (7 p.m.).

The Stars are scheduled to play 82 games during the 2006-07 campaign, with 41 contests at home and 41 on the road. The home schedule features 22 weekend contests (nine Friday, five Saturday, eight Sunday). All of the Saturday home games will start at 7 p.m. or earlier, including a 2:30 p.m. start on Feb. 10 vs. Anaheim. The Stars' will also host six Sunday afternoon matinees (Feb. 11 vs. Colorado - 2:30 p.m.; Feb. 18 vs. San Jose - 2:30 p.m.; Feb. 25 vs. Vancouver - 2:30 p.m.; Mar. 4 vs. San Jose - 2:30 p.m.; Mar. 11 vs. Los Angeles - 2:30 p.m.; Apr. 8 vs. Chicago - Noon). The busiest home weeknight for the Stars is Wednesday (six times). Most evening games at American Airlines Center will begin at 7:30 p.m.

For the second consecutive season, the NHL schedule is heavily structured around conference play, especially against the team's respective division. Dallas plays in the NHL's Pacific Division of the Western Conference, and will play 32 divisional games against rivals Anaheim, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Jose (a total of eight times each -- four at home, four on the road).

The Stars will play a total of 40 games against non-division Western Conference foes in the Central Division (Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis) and the Northwest Division (Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Minnesota and Vancouver), with four games against each opponent (twice at home, twice on the road).

Against Eastern Conference opponents, the Stars will host teams from the Atlantic Division (New Jersey, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh), while playing on the road vs. the Southeast Division (Atlanta, Carolina, Florida, Tampa Bay and Washington). Dallas will not face the Northeast Division this season (Boston, Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto). The NHL will rotate inter-conference opponents each season by division.

The Stars' longest home stand this season will be a five-game stretch from February 6-18 (Minnesota, Anaheim, Colorado, Detroit and San Jose). The club also has three other home stands of four-games each. Dallas' longest road trips are three, four-game road swings from Oct. 12-17 (Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Jose), Nov. 3-9 (Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary and Phoenix) and Jan. 28-Feb. 3 (Anaheim, San Jose, San Jose and St. Louis).

Dallas will have the honor of hosting the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, January 22-24, 2007, at American Airlines Center and venues throughout the area. The 55th NHL All-Star Game will be played at American Airlines Center on Wednesday evening, January 24. The arena will also hold the NHL SuperSkills and the YoungStars Game on Tuesday, January 23. There also will be a Monday All-Star event at American Airlines Center with more details to be announced at a later date.

Notable games at American Airlines Center include: Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins (Jan. 26), New Year's Eve vs. the San Jose Sharks (Dec. 31 - this marks the ninth consecutive season for the Stars to play at home on New Year's Eve, going 5-1-2 in those contests); two games against the 2006 Western Conference Champion Edmonton Oilers (Dec. 8, Dec. 23); the New York Rangers (Dec. 14); Ken Hitchcock and the Philadelphia Flyers (Mar. 13).

Dallas Stars Season Seats are on sale now. Full and split season plans are available, as well as 6, 10, and 15-game packages that allow fans to choose the games they want to go to. Having a Season Seats plan is the only way for fans to secure seats for 2007 NHL All-Star Events in Dallas. Fans can call 214-GO-STARS for more information or go to DallasStars.com.
