Stars To Bring Back Coaching Staff For 2007-08 Season
Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong met with Owner Tom Hicks on Friday morning and recommended that the team retain the services of the coaching staff for the 2007-08 season. The two sides agreed to stay the course after a successful regular season that saw the Stars reach 50 wins for the third time since '98-99 (only Detroit has accomplished the same feat).
Tippett was hired as the 19th coach in Stars franchise history on May 21, 2002, and has since posted a 190-97-41 record. Leading the club to two Pacific Division titles (2002-03 and 2005-06) and four consecutive playoff appearances, Tippett coached in his 300th NHL game on February 6, 2007 vs. Minnesota. Through those first 300 games, he has posted the seventh best record in NHL history among coaches in their first 300 contests.
"I have said all along that I support the entire coaching staff and believe that they will find ways to improve our hockey club next season," said Stars captain Brenden Morrow. "We were all frustrated with how things ended earlier this week, but I have full confidence that Dave and his staff will help us rebound for 2007-08."
Tippett's staff includes Associate Coach Rick Wilson, Assistant Coaches Mark Lamb and Ulf Dahlen, Video Coach Derek MacKinnon and Strength and Conditioning Coach J.J. McQueen.
