Stars Sign Two To Entry-Level Deals

Frisco, Tex. – The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed forward Tristan King and defenseman Hubert Labrie each to three-year entry-level contracts. Both players participated in the 2009 Traverse City Tournament with other Dallas prospects.

King, 18, ranked tied for fourth in Stars team scoring with two assists in four games during the tournament. Last season, he scored a career-high 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) in 47 games while collecting 33 penalty minutes (PIM) with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League. King also made his post-season debut, playing in two playoff games with the Tigers.

The 6-0, 183-pound center spent the previous two seasons with the Portland Winter Hawks scoring 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists) in 69 games in 2007-08 and 15 points (6 goals, 9 assists) in 64 games in 2006-07. The Elk River, Minnesota native was traded to the Medicine Hat Tigers on May 7th, 2008.

Labrie, 18, was scoreless with nine penalty minutes in the Traverse City tournament. In 2008-09, he played 55 regular season games for the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, gathering four points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 82 PIM. The 5-10, 158-pound defenseman also appeared in five post-season games collecting 14 PIM.

The Victoriaville, Que. native made his QMJHL debut in 2007-08 on the Gatineau blue-line posting two goals and 15 assists in 61 regular season games. Labrie scored a goal and added three assists in 19 playoff games as Gatineau captured the QMJHL President’s Cup.
