This week, we take another look at the Stars’ top prospects in professional, junior and college hockey.

Texas Stars (AHL):

The Texas Stars moved into first place in the West Division after beating the San Antonio Rampage 3-0 on Friday. Stars’ prospects Sergei Korostin and Francis Wathier each scored a goal while Ivan Vishnevskiy added two assists. Brent Krahn made 34 saves, including 29 in the second and third period for his first shutout of the season.

Saturday, Texas beat Chris Chelios and the Chicago Wolves 4-1 at the Cedar Park Center. Krahn made 28 saves on 29 shots for his second win in as many nights. Perttu Lindgren had a goal and two assists, Landon Wilson scored two goals and Francis Wathier added a goal in the victory.

Texas took care of business again at home Sunday, beating the Houston Aeros by a score of 3-1. Matt Climie, back from a short stint in the NHL, made 27 saves on 28 shots. Eight different Stars scored points as Texas improved to 3-1-0 against Houston this season.

The Stars play two games at home Friday and Saturday against the Manitoba Moose before leaving the state of Texas for the first time all season for a game next Wednesday, November 11, against the Peoria Rivermen.

Noteworthy:

Texas is now in sole possession of first place in the West division at 8-2-2.  The Stars are third in the AHL with 18 points, behind only Rochester (9-1-1, 19 points) and Manchester (9-2-1, 19 points).

In back-to-back games Friday and Saturday, Brent Krahn went 2-0 with a .984 save percentage, allowing just one goal on 63 shots.

In 12 games this season, Texas has allowed just 21 goals, good for second in the AHL (Manchester-17 goals allowed in 12 games).

Dating back to October 23, the Stars have earned at least one point in five straight games (4-0-1, 9 points).
