(Dallas, November 18, 2009) -- The Tom Hicks family hosted a celebration dinner for Brett Hull, the first Dallas Star to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The event was held at Tom and Cinda Hicks’ home, and it included a Who’s Who guest list including other Dallas Hall of Famers Tony Dorsett, Troy Aikman, Nolan Ryan, Randy White, Roger Staubach as well as Bobby Hull, Brett’s father who preceded him into the Hall of Fame.

“We wanted to create an evening that not only honored Brett and his wife Darcie,” said Hicks, “we also wanted to pay tribute to our community’s entire pro sports legacy. This is a place for winners.”

Hicks also noted Hull’s special role in Dallas sports history since it was Hull that made the winning goal that captured the Stanley Cup for Dallas.

Hull signed with the Stars in 1998. Since then, he has become a big part of this community.

There were numerous other celebrities at the dinner. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his wife Gene were there, as well as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Stars president Jeff Cogen, Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk, former Stars owner Norm Green and his wife Kelly, former Stars president Jim Lites and former Stars defenseman Craig Ludwig. The invitees also included members of Hull’s family.

“What a wonderful evening,” Hull said. “This experience tonight and the formal induction last week have been surreal. I am humbled and grateful.”

Several heartfelt toasts were offered to the Hulls. In response, Hull thanked his friends, family and colleagues and made a prediction.

“I know I won’t be the last Dallas Stars player to join the Hall of Fame,” said Hull.  “Next year, perhaps we can do this all again when Joe Nieuwendyk is voted into the Hall.”
