Sturm Blog: Love Playing The Ducks

For some reason, the bad blood rivalry with the Ducks over the years has been so much fun. I enjoy sorting through my memory banks all the way back to Reunion Arena for some of them.
Scroll down to the bottom to see some of my favorite moments.
Anyway, last night was one of those games where you received a better result than you might have earned. The Ducks were playing a very sound road game strategy, with a 1-0 lead early in the 3rd Period.
Then, a very innocent play resulted in a goal that was credited to James Neal, but certainly not a goal that will go on his career highlight reel. Then, Steve Ott scores from a very odd angle and Jean Sebastian Giguere, who had owned the Stars at certain moments (2003 Playoffs) had basically given the game to the Stars in a mere 71 seconds. You don't see a guy like that allow to pucks past him like those. But, he did, and the Stars beat a division rival and continued their maddening habit of win one, lose one, win one, etc..
Brenden Morrow kept his game scoring streak going with an empty netter to go to 5 in a row, and Corey Perry's league leading streak of 19 games with a point ended.
Ryan Getzlaf was certainly in a bad mood, and so was Steve Ott, so I guess I anticipated some fireworks, but the two teams just played a feisty divisional affair that allows me to look forward to future meetings.
And past ones! Here are a few of my favorite Ducks-Stars moments:
the 1998 brawl to end all brawls....
Ott and Mike Brown stare down...
And, the 2008 Stars-Ducks Game 6
Saturday afternoon, Edmonton visits for a matinee. 2 in a row?!?
