The Texas Stars played just one game this past week, as the league paused its regular season schedule for the AHL All-Star Game. Texas took care of business against the Toronto Marlies 5-1 on Friday in front of a sellout crowd at the Cedar Park Center. Warren Peters opened the scoring in the second period with his 13th goal of the season, while Maxime Fortunus and Francis Wathier added insurance goals in the third. Matt Climie made 23 saves on 24 shots and stopped Kyle Calder’s second period penalty shot, improving to 11-12-3.
Defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy was Texas’ lone representative in Tuesday’s All Star Game in Portland, Maine. Vishnevskiy picked up two assists and blocked two shots for the PlanetUSA Team, made up of players born outside Canada. The Canadian All-Stars won the game 10-9 in a shootout.
The Stars play on the road Friday and Saturday against the Lake Erie Monsters before coming home to play the Milwaukee Admirals Tuesday.
Noteworthy:
The Stars fell to third place in the West Division before the break, with a record of 23-12-6 (52 points). Milwaukee (24-13-6, 54 points) and Rockford (24-18-5, 53 points) are ahead of Texas but have played more games.

Elsewhere:
Defensemen Jordie Benn, the brother of Dallas Stars’ left wing Jamie Benn, plays for the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League. Benn picked up an assist Friday against Rapid City and another helper Monday against Arizona. Both points were on the power play, and Benn finished at a +1 in Allen’s three games this week.
