3.) Mike Ribeiro has reenergized the Stars’ offense, collecting four points (3g, 1a) in the two games since returning from injury. All of his goals have come on special teams, notching a power play tally in each game and adding a shorthanded empty netter at the end of the game against Calgary. Both of his goals Thursday were highlight-reel worthy; the first, a tricky between-the-legs shot he sent in off Kiprusoff’s flailing pads, and the second came when a sneaky Ribeiro shot the puck directly off a faceoff in the neutral zone into an open Calgary net. He has two points (1g, 1a) in two games against the Coyotes this season and has 28 points (8g, 20a) in 26 career contests against Phoenix..
4.) Mike Modano has scored more points against the Phoenix/Winnipeg organization than any other club. He has recorded 37 goals and 56 assists for 93 points in 98 career games against the club, which is also the most any active player has scored against the Coyotes/Jets. Captain Brenden Morrow has posted a goal and two assists against Phoenix this season, bringing his career numbers to 40 points (20g, 20a) in just 50 games against the Coyotes.
5.) One to watch for: Coyotes captain Shane Doan leads all Coyotes in goals (26), assists (31), points (57) and penalty minutes (83) in 79 career games against the Stars. He has four points (1g, 3a) in the season series against Dallas. Following his three-point (1g, 2a) performance against the Stars Jan. 31, Doan was named the NHL’s first star of the week for notching a total of nine points (3g, 6a) in four games that week..
