Texas finished up its five-game home stand against Chicago on Saturday. Maxime Fortunus scored his 10th goal of the season, and the Stars killed off all four Chicago power plays, but it was not enough, as the Wolves prevailed with a 5-2 victory. Perttu Lindgren, Mathieu Beaudoin, Andrew Hutchinson and Aaron Gagnon each picked up an assist for Texas.
The Stars started a five-game road trip against the Western Conference-leading Hamilton Bulldogs on Tuesday. Texas goaltender Richard Bachman stopped 17 shots for his first AHL shutout, a day after being recalled from Idaho (ECHL), as the Stars won 5-0. Hutchinson scored a goal and two assists, while Raymond Sawada, Warren Peters and Beaudoin each had multi-point games. Gagnon and Trevor Ludwig also scored as part of a four-goal second period for Texas.
The Stars built on Tuesday’s win with another one the following night against the Syracuse Crunch. Beaudoin scored the first goal of the game midway through the second period on the power play, and Gagnon scored the game-winner in the third period, as the Stars won 3-1. Bachman made 23 saves on 24 shots, improving his AHL record to 3-1-0.
The Stars continue their road trip with games at Toronto on Friday, at Grand Rapids on Sunday and at Peoria on Tuesday.
