On the Farm Report: 3-5-10

We take another look at the Stars’ prospects in minor league, college, junior and European hockey leagues.

Texas Stars (AHL):

Korostin

The Texas Stars defeated the Houston Aeros 3-2 Friday at the Cedar Park Center. Mathieu Beaudoin scored the game’s first goal midway through the first period, and Sergei Korostin scored the eventual game-winner in the second. Andrew Hutchinson and Garrett Stafford each picked up two assists. Texas had a 3-0 lead before allowing two goals in the second period, but held on for the win. Matt Climie made 26 saves on 28 shots, earning his 15th win of the season.

The Stars beat the Aeros again on Saturday 5-2, this time at Houston’s Toyota Center. Francis Wathier scored the first goal of the game on the power play, and Texas built a 4-1 lead by the end of the second period. Hutchinson and Dan Jancevski also scored, and Perttu Lindgren added the fifth goal of the game with just under a minute to go in regulation. Climie made 31 saves on 33 shots to pick up his second win against Houston in as many days.

Playing their third game in as many days, the Stars lost 5-3 to the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday in Cedar Park. The Rampage got off to a 3-0 lead early in the first period. Despite goals from Beaudoin and Aaron Gagnon before the end of the period, the Stars were unable to tie the game. Hutchinson and Lindgren each added a pair of assists in the Stars’ third straight game with two power-play goals.

Idaho Steelheads (ECHL):

The Idaho Steelheads finished a three-game sweep over the Alaska Aces with a 4-1 win on Friday and a 7-1 win on Saturday. Richard Bachman made 21 saves on 22 shots in Friday’s win, and Idaho outshot Alaska 51-14 on Saturday. Despite losing 3-1 to the Bakersfield Condors on Wednesday, the Steelheads are still in first place in the National Conference with 79 points (Bakersfield is second with 67 points). Idaho plays Bakersfield again on Friday and Saturday before going on the road to face the Victoria Salmon Kings next week.
