3.) The Stars held Washington off the board during a 5-on-3 power play on Monday that lasted 1:25. The Stars are now a perfect 8-for-8 on two-man disadvantages, and 5-for-5 when they last longer than one minute. Vancouver and Minnesota are the only other teams yet to surrender a goal while down two skaters. Meanwhile, Dallas is 4-for-20 with a two-man advantage.
4.) Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller was the hero for Team USA at the Olympics, leading the Americans to a victory over Canada in group play and forcing overtime in the gold medal game. Since the resumption of NHL play last week, Miller is 2-1-0, including overtime wins against Philadelphia and the New York Rangers, allowing just five goals in the three games with a .952 save percentage.
5.) Stars fans may also remember Sabres’ forward Mike Grier from his days with the Edmonton Oilers. Grier played 22 playoff games against the Stars between 1997 and 2001 with Edmonton, and another six in 2008 as a member of the San Jose Sharks. Grier is the only player on the Sabres’ roster with more than 25 regular season games against the Stars (he has 44), and his 37 penalty minutes against Dallas are the most for him against any team.
