Texas took care of business on Saturday against Houston, winning 4-3 after Colton Sceviour broke a 3-3 tie with 5:41 left in regulation. Sawada posted a Gordie Howe hat trick (a goal, an assist and a fight), and Warren Peters scored his 15th goal of the season. Climie won his fourth straight game, with 26 saves on 29 shots.
The Stars finished their four-game home stand with a 3-2 win against the Peoria Rivermen on Wednesday. Brent Krahn, making his first start in goal for Texas since Nov. 22, stopped 29 of 31 Peoria shots, improving to 11-2-0. After falling behind 1-0, Sceviour scored on a shorthanded breakaway to tie the game at 1-1. The Stars trailed again in the second period, but Francis Wathier scored on the power play for his 12th goal of the season. Aaron Gagnon netted the game-winner, his 18th of the year, early in the third.
The Stars play two games this weekend against the San Antonio Rampage. Friday’s game will be played at San Antonio’s AT&T Center, and Saturday’s contest will be back at the Stars’ home in Cedar Park.
