StarPoints For 3/27 vs Los Angeles

1.)  The Stars and Kings are facing off for the sixth and final time this season. Dallas is 0-2-3 in the season series against Los Angeles, with one overtime loss and two shootout losses. The teams last played at American Airlines Center on March 12. The Kings struck first with a goal by Fredrik Modin in the final minute of the first period. In the third period, Brenden Morrow tied the game at one all and the Stars held on to force the extra period. After a scoreless overtime, the teams had to go six shooters a side before Jarret Stoll sent a wrist shot past Marty Turco to win the game.
 
2.)  Dallas is on the third game of a four game road trip. After picking up a 3-1 win against Pekka Rinne and the red-hot Nashville Predators, the Stars fell 3-0 to San Jose Thursday night, despite a terrific game in net for Marty Turco. Tonight, Dallas is looking to rebound from that loss as they have found success at Staples Center, collecting at least one point in each of their last games, and points in 12 of their last 13. Seven of the last 11 meetings overall between the teams have gone to overtime.

3.)  Both teams could have a tough time lighting the lamp tonight because of the big bodies in net. Kari Lehtonen, who is 1-0-0 against the Kings in his career, will start in goal tonight. Lehtonen has come on strong for the Stars after getting a few starts under his belt. He has picked up wins in three of his last four starts, and will be looking to defeat the Kings for the first time as a Star. For Los Angeles, Olympian Jonathan Quick is 6-2-0 against Dallas, with one shutout and a 2.12 goals-against average. He has collected four wins against the Stars this season and a sparkling 1.96 goals-against.
 
4.)  Dallas will once again be without Mike Modano, who underwent an appendectomy March 15. Modano did not make the road trip with the team, but has been practicing all week and is aiming to return to the lineup during next week’s two-game home stand. He leads all Stars in goals (38), assists (50) and points (88) in 90 career games against the Kings. The 39-year-old center has played in 54 games for the Stars this season, collecting 13 goals and 13 assists.
 
5.)  One to watch for:  Alexander Frolov has had Dallas’ number during his career. He is tied for first on the Kings in scoring against the Stars (along with Ryan Smyth) with 33 points (12 g, 21a) in 40 career games. The 27-year-old left wing has collected two goals and five assists in four games against Dallas in the season series. Frolov is currently third on the Kings in scoring this season, having collected 47 points (17g, 30a) through 72 games.
