Saturday is Official Hockey Fights Cancer Night

Organizations involved in Hockey Fights Cancer night include the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer, Children’s Cancer Fund, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center, No Walker Left Behind, Susan G. Komen, and PanCAN. Each organization will have a table on the main concourse level with information and more.
The Dallas Stars Foundation has given a $10,000 check to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on behalf of the NHL and Hockey Fights Cancer.
Dallas Stars wives and girlfriends will be helping collect donations at the Stars Foundation Table and at main entrances, with the total sum donated evenly among the cancer charities. The wives will be wearing pink Stars jerseys autographed by their husband. The jerseys will be auctioned off at the Foundation table throughout the game.
Stars players will be using lavender or pink tape on sticks during warm-ups. The sticks will be autographed and auctioned off at another game in October. “Hockey Fights Cancer” stickers are featured on the back of all players’ helmets throughout the month of October.
Stars coaches, broadcasters and executives will be donning lavender ties for Saturday’s game, while the Dallas Stars Ice Girls will be sporting pink jerseys. Celena Rae will sing the National Anthem in a Hockey Fights Cancer track jacket.
Special guest of the Stars will be Bryce Taylor and Family. Bryce is a Kidd’s Kid - Kidd’ Kraddick’s non-profit organization that helps children with special medical needs. Bryce is 16 years old and was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was in remission until recently. His doctors do not expect him to live past Christmas. He is a huge Dallas Stars fan, and his birthday is this Saturday, October 23. The team has given him and his family a suite to enjoy the Dallas Stars game, and will take him down after the game to meet some of his favorite players.
