Behind The Scenes: Game 13 - Carolina


The division leading Stars head out on a four-game road swing against Carolina, Washington, Pittsburgh & Detroit on fire. They have earned 20 of 26 possible points so far this season and are looking to continue their rise in the standings. Get a glimpse of what went on behind the scenes as the team traveled to the East Coast.

DAY FOUR (11/6/11) - GAME 13 - CAROLINA

5:48 pm - As the sun sets over North Carolina, the Dallas Stars end day two of their road trip by going 10-3 to start the season.


5:16 pm - Nicklas Grossman boards the team plane.


5:03 pm - The team plane is prepped and ready for the short flight to DC.


4:35 pm - Adam Burish takes a phone call before hopping on the bus and heading to DC.


4:26 pm - After his post-game press conference, Coach Gulutzan makes his way to the team bus.


4:15 pm - A three-point night for Eriksson makes him popular with the media.


4:11 pm - The game sticks go from the bench to their travel case in one big bundle.


4:08 pm - The Stars celebrate their victory.


4:06 pm - Carolina captain Eric Staal.


 


4:06 pm - Derek Joslin chirps towards the Stars bench as he's escorted off the ice after receiving a misconduct penalty.


4:05 pm - With the game all but over, Loui Eriksson watches some late period pushing and shoving.


 


 


3:30 pm - Toby Petersen stretches as the second intermission comes to a close.


3:16 - Michael Ryder talks with the boys in the broadcast booth during the second intermission while Dallas Stars producer Cody Eastwood (far left) shoots some content for DallasStars.com and Stars Communications Coordinator, Joe Calvillo looks on.


3:14 pm - Coach Gulutzan steps off the ice at the start of the second intermission.


3:10 pm - No complaints from Andrew Raycroft on Eriksson's pass this time as the Stars take a commanding 5-1 lead late in the second period.


3:10 pm - Jamie Benn buries a slick saucer pass from Loui Eriksson during a 2 on 1 shorthanded breakaway.


3:03 pm - Kari Lehtonen leaps to gain control of the puck late in the second period.


2:57 pm - Jamie Benn talks with the referee prior to a second period faceoff. Benn went 8 for 16 on the dot.


2:41 pm - Krys Barch waits for a whistle so he can jump back on the ice after having an issue with his skate addressed by the equipment guys.


2:44 pm - Andrew Raycroft looks on as Brian Boucher comes in relief of Cam Ward.


2:42 pm - Michael Ryder raises his stick after scoring a goal on a pretty feed from Eriksson.


2:34 pm - As the intermission winds down, Krys Barch retapes his stick.


2:23 - Keri Lehtonen checks on the repairs Steve Sumner makes to his mask after a first period shot to the chin broke one of the screws.


2:20 pm - As the period winds down, Andrew Raycroft watches the action on a broadcast monitor. Moments later, he'd tell Loui Eriksson to think shot rather than pass after a 2 on 1 attempt with Jamie Benn was too easily read.


2:06 pm - The Stars celebrate a first period power play goal by Stephane Robidas.


 


 


1:49 pm - Souray and Robidas join the Fiddler line in celebrating Nystrom's 1st period goal. It was Nystrom's second in as many games.


1:43 pm - The physical game started early. A thundering double-team check on Burish early in the 1st period broke the glass near the Canes bench.


1:36 pm - You could hear the the Stars fans during the anthem.


 


1:30 - Kari Lehtonen leads the team out to the ice.


1:22 pm - Coach Gulutzan addresses the team prior to the game.


1:09 - Kari Lehtonen tosses a puck over the glass for a fan.


1:07 - Krys Barch takes a shot on Kari Lehtonen during the pre-game warm-up.


1:02 pm - To get a better look, Goalie Coach Mike Valley watches warm ups from up in the stands.


12:58 pm - Kari Lehtonen leads the team out on the ice for warm-ups.


12:50 pm - As the clock ticks closer to game time, the mood in the room gets a little more serious.


12:39 pm - Vernon Fiddler jumps roap in the tunnel outside the locker room.


12:31 pm - Nicklas Grossman wears a bandage under his eye where he was cut by a skate in a recent game against New Jersey.


12:10 pm - Loyal Dallas Stars fans and North Carolina residents, Justin Stevens, Stuart Deese and Wendy Bullard, are outnumbered, but still root for the good guys.


12:00 pm - An hour and a half from puck drop, and the Caniacs are out in force, playing street hockey and tailgating.


11:55 am - Kari Lehtonen heads back to the room after going through his pre-game stretching routine.


11:52 am - Alex Goligoski & Stephane Robidas keep the mood in the room light, prior to the game.


11:51 am - Adam Burish talks with Radek Dvorak and Vernon Fiddler.


11:41 am - The RBC Center building crew clean the glass.


11:35 am - Coach Glen Gulutzan jokes with Billy Jaffe about not knowing his way around some NHL rinks, but his team's 9-3 start shows he knows his way around the NHL game just fine.


11:29 am - Assistant Equipment Manager, Dennis Soetaert, modifies Grossman's helmet to accomidate the visor.


11:22 am - Krys Barch makes his way off the team bus and into the arena.


11:18 am - Alex Goligoski, on the team bus in-route to the RBC Center.


11:13 am - Billy Jaffe, filling in for Daryl Reaugh, joins us on the team bus.


9:19 am - Stephane Robidas arrives at the team breakfast.


8:59 am - Jamie Benn, Radek Dvorak and Vernon Fiddler cut up over breakfast.


7:54 am - The colors in the trees this time of year are other worldly.


7:50 am - Some fall foliage reflected in the water.


7:37 am - A view of the hotel from the .25 mile nature trail available to hotel guests.


7:28 am - The sun rakes across the grounds of the team hotel. An afternoon start means no morning skate.
