Behind The Scenes: Road Trip Day 3

The division leading Stars head out on a 4-game road swing against Carolina, Washington, Pittsburgh & Detroit on fire. They earned 18 of 24 possible points so far this season and are looking to continue moving up the standings. Get a glimpse of what went on behind the scenes as the team traveled to the East Coast.

4:55 pm - The moon rises over the Washington Monument and The Capital Building.

4:42 pm - The guys make their way through Arlington National Cemetary to the Marine Corps War Memorial.

3:53 - A guard at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier stands stock still for 21 seconds before making 21 paces as part of a ritual that has been performed every minute of every day since 1937.

3:49 pm - Mark Vittorio, John Sponsler, Jason Walsh and Jason Rademan sit in reflection at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.


3:16 pm - Some of the guys from the Emmy winning broadcast team made a trip to Arlington National Cemetary.


12:44 pm - Loui Eriksson talks with Greg Wyshynski from Yahoo Sports "Puck Daddy" Blog.

12:40 pm - Despite a 1:00 pm bus back to the hotel, Krys Barch and Coach Paul Jerrard choose to stay on the ice to work on some situational plays.

12:35 pm - Jake Dowell and Krys Barch work on fighting techniques after practice.

12:26 pm - Steam rises from Andrew Raycroft's helmet after practice.

12:20 pm - Mike Ribeiro slips a puck past Andrew Raycroft in shootout practice.

12:12 pm - Stephane Robidas talks with the coaches after practice.

12:07 pm - Throughout practice, Coach Gulutzan took time to talk one-on-one with his players. Here, he and Mark Fistric discuss handling a situation in the defensive zone.

12:04 pm - Coach Gulutzan stops practice to stress the importance of attacking the opposition in the offensive zone.



11:39 am - Twenty two players on the ice with a couple of pucks made for a really entertaining battle of pride.

11:33 am - To start practice, Coach Gulutzan had the entire team, assistant coaches and two pucks on the ice for a no-holds-barred first to score 7 hockey game.

11:30 am - Kari Lehtonen and Andrew Raycroft grab some water while the team gets their legs warm.

11:23 am - Jamie Benn tapes up his stick before stepping on the ice.

11:18 am - Though practice doesn't officially begin for 12 more minutes, Mike Valley and the Goalies begin warming up.

11:17 am - The training staff have everything set for practice.


11:12 am - The team gets dressed for practice.

11:10 am - Jake Dowell hurdles the net after taking down Vernon Fiddler.

11:07 am - Jake Dowell tries to fend off the pressing Vernon Fiddler who was trying to overcome a slow start.

11:05 am - You could cut the tension with a knife as Brenden Morrow made final preparations to the court.

11:02 am - Mike Ribeiro walks off the court for a one-on-one Donkeyball showdown between Vernon Fiddler and Jake Dowell.

10:41 am - One final trip down the ice for the zamboni.

10:37 am - Director of Team Services, Jason "Stretch" Rademan, steals some quiet time in Verizon Center before practice.

10:28 - Dennis Soetaert checks the game sweaters and make sure nothing needs to be sewed up.

10:27 am - Coach Gulutzan preps for practice.

10:19 am - Krystofer Barch, Loui Eriksson and Nicklas Grossman make their way through the bowels of Verizon Center.

9:56 am - Word begins to spread that Loui Eriksson has been named the NHL's #2 star of the week.

9:41 am - Andrew Raycroft, Alex Goligoski, Jamie Benn, Adam Pardy and Toby Petersen grab a cup of coffee before heading to practice.
