Kari Lehtonen Out Three Weeks

“Kari is going to be out for at least three weeks for us,” said Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan. “But we got some good news on that front from the MRI. It’s not a high groin pull or anything like that. It’s a low strain, a low pull. Those tend to heal a little bit better. We’re looking at that three-week mark before we get Kari back.”
The team recalled Richard Bachman from the Texas Stars on Sunday. He ranked fourth in the AHL last season with a 28-19-5 record with a 2.20 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
Besides Lehtonen, the Stars will also be without the services of Adam Burish (broken hand), Trevor Daley (back), Alex Goligoski (broken thumb), and Brenden Morrow (back) for Monday’s game at Colorado.
Daley might be back soon, according to Gulutzan.
“Dales is getting better. He’s better than he was a day ago. We think he’s a possibility for Thursday or Saturday. It’s kind of like a pinched nerve for him. When they heal, they heal quick.”
Vernon Fiddler, who left Saturday’s game with a groin injury, is expected to play tonight, as is Michael Ryder (ankle).
While no one wants to deal with a wrath of injuries, it does create the chance for others to step up.
“It’s about opportunity,” Gulutzan said. “Guys can lay in their beds at night and think about what they can do if they get a chance. This is an opportunity for guys to step up. At the end of the day, we’ll have a clear picture of what our team looks like and what our depth looks like. This will test it and we embrace that.”
Monday’s game is on FOX Sports Southwest and Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket at 8:00 pm CT.
