Jamie Benn Has Appendectomy

Stars forward Jamie Benn underwent an appendectomy (removal of the appendix) on Sunday afternoon and will be out approximately 10 days-to-two weeks. He is resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery.

Benn, 22, currently leads Dallas is scoring with 13 goals and 29 assists for 42 points in 43 games. He was selected to play in the NHL All-Star Game for the first time, which will be in Ottawa on Sunday, January 29. His participation in All-Star Weekend appears doubtful, though a final determination has not been made.

The Stars will take on the St. Louis Blues from Scotttrade Center on Monday night at 6:30 pm CT. The game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network and on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket.
