Dallas Stars Announce Roster Moves

Frisco, TX – The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has activated Jamie Benn from injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 14 and assigned Tomas Vincour, Philip Larsen and Matt Fraser to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Benn, 22, has missed the last five games recovering from appendectomy surgery. The 6-2, 205-pound forward leads the team with 29 assists and ranks second overall in scoring with 42 points (13g, 29a). Earlier this month, Benn was selected to participate in the 2012 NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa. He has been skating the last couple of days and is planning on full participation at the All-Star events.

Vincour, 21, has skated in 18 games for Dallas this season, earning one goal and two assists, totaling three points. The Brno, CZE native has been an even or plus player in 14 of his contests this season.

Larsen, 22, has skated in 21 games for Dallas this season, scoring one goal and two assists in that span. The Esbjerg, DNK native ranks second among Dallas defensemen with a +7 rating and is averaging 17:10 of time-on-ice per game. Earlier this season, Larsen became the first Danish-born defenseman to score an NHL goal since Poul Popiel in the 1971-72 season for the Vancouver Canucks.

Fraser, 21, played in his first career NHL game on Jan. 24, 2012 vs. the Anaheim Ducks going scoreless in 3:57 of ice time. Prior to his NHL recall, Fraser ranked second on the Texas Stars in scoring with 35 points (21g, 14a). He led the club with 21 goals and was tied for third overall in that category in the AHL. The 6-2, 207-pound forward was signed to a three-year entry-level contract by Dallas on Nov. 17, 2010.

The Dallas Stars’ next practice will be Monday, Jan. 30, at 2 pm at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco. The team will then travel to Anaheim to face the Ducks at Honda Center on Tuesday, Feb. 1 (TV: FOX Sports Southwest Plus; Radio: 1310 The Ticket).
